The Chilean Peso is the official currency of Chile. It is issued by the Banco Central de Chile (Chile’s central bank). Chile is considered one of the strongest economies in Latin America, so the Chilean Peso is often seen as a growth currency.

Chile has enjoyed one of the highest GDPs in its region and exports a wide variety of natural resources. Much of Chile’s wealth comes from mining and agriculture, but a large service economy has also developed. Chile’s economic success is believed to be a result of the Chicago Boys - a group of economists that studied under Milton Friedman and Arnold Harberger at the University of Chicago.
